Ship on Shore
Weathered timber and ropes on the historic quayside

Our Story

A building with the tide in its bones.

Provenance

The Building

Once a ship chandlery, now a dining room.

Placeholder history: the building that houses Ship on Shore has stood on this quay since the 1800s, first as a chandlery supplying rope, sailcloth, and provisions to the fishing fleet, later as a net loft and cooperage. Restored beam-by-beam, the dining room keeps its original timber trusses, cast-iron columns, and harbour-facing windows. Replace this paragraph with the real history of your building.

Placeholder continued: the bar downstairs was once a boat store, and the flagstones underfoot are original to the quay. We've tried to keep the character of the working harbour intact rather than polish it away.

Sourcing

From the boats we can see from the window.

Placeholder sourcing narrative: we buy directly from day boats working out of the harbour, meaning most of what's on the platter this evening was still in the water this morning. Oysters come from a single native bed a few miles down the coast; our champagne and wine list favours small growers over large houses. Replace with your real supplier relationships and sourcing philosophy.
